Portable / Mobile Air Conditioners @ AirConDirect |
What is Air Conditioning? Air conditioning is a way of providing air at a prescribed temperature and humidity to improve the local environment in a room. The term "Air conditioning" is usually used to describe an air cooling system in a conservatory, room or car. What is a Portable Air Conditioner? A portable or mobile air conditioner is an appliance that can be placed anywhere in your office or home. It needs to be vented in the same way as a tumble dryer, via a ducting pipe that can be put out of the window. These air conditioners transfer heat from inside your home to the outside, and are plugged into the mains power supply. Some models can be fitted with filters to clean allergens from the air, and generate ions. What is an Evaporative Cooler? Evaporative coolers, on the other hand, work by cooling the air in the room by passing it over cold water - the evaporation creates a cooling effect. Coolers are also available with filters to clean pollens and other pollutants out of the air. What are BTU's? The capacity of an appliance to provide air conditioning is measured in BTUs (British Thermal Units). The greater the number of BTUs the more powerful the cooling effect. For example, a 10,000 BTU air conditioner will be sufficient to cool a shady room of up to 28 square metres, or a sunny room of up to 17 square metres. Tell me about the filters Air conditioner filters are designed to clean the air, and are useful for people who want to:
The filters work by being electrostatically charged and thus attracting allergens such as pollen, dust, smoke particles and spores. |
